STAMP now available to order on-line!

EDIT -Hey quick addition to this one, Stamp got a really cool little mention in issue 26 of Comic Heroes, (for all you print media aficionados) it's well over a year old now, but i'm glad it's still getting some nice attention. Will be following this post with some fresh stuff I promise!

With my current comic nearly complete, I've been able to get some fresh copies of 2014's 'STAMP' reprinted and up on etsy!

Come get a copy here!

Inktober part 2

Sorry, theses are the super quick iPhone photo's i took as I worked through inktober - I will scan and tweak in future for inclusion into a comic project. These aren't all of them, but only a selection, I really enjoyed this years 31 day ink exercise - some are better/more interesting than others, but the 31st is absolutely better than the 1st and I guess that's always the point!

Inktober part 1!

Been really enjoying doing inktober this year - last year I fell off the wagon with it, but this year things being a little more stable I've been able to keep up so far! A few of them so far.

Rift Ramblers

Been keen to flesh out a few 'gamey' style character and equipment designs, of recent, a few first round examples.

Life Drawing

My pocket sketchbooks are usually full of strange little doodles of the scenes and faces of those I encounter in the street. But beyond this I do still try and get to life drawing sessions event where possible, but seldom do anything with my drawings. As I was having a bit of a 'paper cull' this weekend and picked out a few of the nicer pieces from the past few years. Added a little bit of digital tinkering but nothing major.

I have never been bold enough to get on well with charcoal, most of my  considered life-drawings are pencil (whereas my street sketches are usually ink)

Paper sketches

Been pretty involved with my current comic project (still aiming for November) so here's some sketches from a little earlier in the year playing around with some pencil, ink, posca and coffee, generating some potential project ideas mainly. Always like rough and muddy coffee stain stuff for banging out ideas, makes me much less precious, and allows for a degree of serendipity in some of the form.

Nintendom

Playing around with a different style while riffing off a colour palette that I grabbed from somewhere else. Am about to dive into my comic project for the next few weeks so it's nice to do something a little experimental, and not too fussy.

He Dances.

I've been sketching at gigs recently, usually it's the audience members that end up being the subjects...

Chiller

A (multiple) lunch-break image, which kinda feeds into a comic project of mine. Started off as a colour study piece from photo reference as I loved the lighting here, but as it progressed it seemed obvious to turn it into a Fargo-esque scene.

I love using vector mask for shapes, along with soft and textured brushes but it feels like a pretty slow process.

Old paints

Digging around some older work and found these, all done using some rougher brushes (my commercial stuffs been a lot of vector shapes and gradients recently) interesting to take a fresher look at some of these bits.

Drum Machine

I definitely nicked the pun off a roller-derby player on this one.

Bandit Country

Kinda a WIP, part of a series for Train Guy project, will be tidying up once all (20 odd) images are done!

Neptuna

This year I returned to working within a studio, it's been great fun but after a bit of a blog hiatus I'm hoping to start getting some fresh weekly personal pieces us here, working on the premise of a series of images kinda based on a sort of fantastical 'Robot Wars'.

Biro Sketch

I've moved to take on a new job, (and my PC is still boxed up) so it's been a good chance to work on some drawing and writing for some upcoming side projects. Been having fun with biros mainly.

Meanwhile in the desert...

First post of the year! New Train project pic, done over a few sessions, continuation of the poster pic. Nice to spend a bit of time on lighting.

Working it up into some comic panels.
